The South by Southwest Conference & Festivals (SXSW), which began on March 8, 2019, will hold a series of debates and discussions on Marijuana for the first time ever, in collaboration with Leafly, one of the most prominent websites in the cannabis niche.
For those, who are not aware of what SWSX conference and festival is- It is basically the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries, aimed at fostering creative and professional growth alike.
The 10-day-long festival will see a number of scientists, entrepreneurs, celebrities, political advocates and other cannabis experts come together – from March 14 to 16 – on the same platform and discuss ways the modern-day technology can be used to bring out the ‘best’ of cannabis, especially in the medical field.
During the 2-day event, the official statement by Leafly promises cutting-edge cannabis science, CannaTech, activism efforts, entrepreneurial sessions, and expert panels on subjects such as criminal justice, cannabinoid research, and sexual health. The two panels, however, that are already gathering most of the audience attention are “The Politics of Marijuana: What’s in Store for Texas” and “Can We Heal Ourselves From the War on Drugs?” which is headed by a number of prominent entrepreneurs and activists.
In addition, a ‘leafy lounge’ has been set up where people can come and discuss anything cannabis-oriented with the likes of Nick Jikomes, Principal Research Scientist at Leafly. That’s not all! The event will also boast of a podcast section, wherein film producer Will Hyde will interview popular ‘cannabis personalities’ like Sarah Hanlon and Amanda Reiman, among others.
Texas still remains an illegal state and people who may be thinking about going and smoking some pot at the SXSW festival premises should refrain themselves as there are, of course, no authorized spots for such activities.
