When you think of cannabis, the common methods of consuming it that come into your mind are smoking, vaping and edibles (maybe). However, it’s 2019 and many companies are coming up with unique and innovative methods of enticing you to the apparently not-so-harmful recreational drug.
One such method is beverages – although ‘beverages’ may not sound unique, when the term ‘marijuana-infused’ is added before it, it may at least seem new, refreshing and a subtle form to enjoy mild THC – the psychoactive compound in marijuana responsible for the high – without worrying much about the aftermath.
The cannabis-infused beverage market is expected to touch $1.4 billion by 2023, and thus almost every beverage company is leaving no stone unturned to make it big. The latest THC-infused drink to hit the market is Spherex’s PHYX.
PHYX — a line of marijuana-infused sparkling water that comes in four flavors, natural, grapefruit, lime and dragon fruit — boasts of USP’s like ‘no cannabis smell or taste’, ‘zero calories’, ‘gluten-free’, ‘no added sugars or carbs’ and ‘all natural ingredients’. Notably, each single 8.4 oz. bottle of PHYX contains 2.5mg of THC and 2.5mg of CBD.
“There is an entire segment of people that want to try cannabis but do not like inhaling smoke or vapor, and do not want to consume even edibles as they need to get back to their daily responsibilities. PHYX was developed with these consumers in mind,” said Spherex Chairman Michael Green.
Most of the edibles typically begin with 5mg THC but PHYX has gone the ‘microdosing’ route so that users can start slow and see how THC affects their body, added Green.
The company says that the psychoactive cannabinoid in their sparkling water will be absorbed through the tongue and throat, providing the desired effects in minutes. Reportedly, each serving would produce a cannabis experience that lasts approximately an hour.
In case you weren’t already aware, Spherex enjoys the reputation of producing high-quality, ultra-clean THC products for Colorado‘s recreational weed market.
