The first woman-owned marijuana boutique has received final license on Thursday from Cannabis Control Commission and is scheduled to open at Uxbridge, Massachusetts.
The boutique owner, Caroline E. Frankel, is a stay-at-home mother who said in an interview that she is extremely excited and hopes to open the store in March first week.
The high-end marijuana boutique marks a big moment for Caroline professionally in a field which is otherwise predominantly male-dominated.
Caroline has worked extremely hard, navigating the entire licensing procedure for the boutique all on her own since the past 6 years. The boutique will offer marijuana as well as related home, decorative and garden products.
In statement given by Caroline, she said that she intends to continue making efforts to support small-sized women-run businesses in the cannabis industry. Besides this, she also supports programs which work towards meeting the needs of people who were affected disproportionately due to drug war.
Since the time retail purchase of recreational marijuana was made available on 20 November, a total of $31.6 million state-wide aggregate gross sale has been recorded till date.
Notably, Uxbridge is relying on cannabis establishments extensively to boost local revenue. It is mid-way the negotiating process or has signed 9 host community contracts, reported the town manager in December last year.
