Barneys New York made the announcement of launching its own posh marijuana boutique known as ‘The High End,’ at its Beverly Hills location in the month of March.
When the shop really arrives, it will be selling high-end cannabis accessories starting from leather ashtrays, rolling papers to marijuana-infused candies and art-object bongs.
However, the shop will not be having any cannabis products containing THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), a psychoactive element which is responsible for making the users of cannabis feel ‘high.’
Though recreational cannabis is legal in the state of California, a store still needs a proper dispensary license to sell it which Barneys does not currently have. This is why, Barneys has teamed up with Beboe, a Los-Angeles based firm which is called as ‘the Hermes of marijuana.’ Beboe will act like a bridge between the department store and the legal marijuana market of California, making the shoppers learn more about weed as well as process orders off-site and deliver them through courier service called Emjay.
Notably, Barneys is the first key department store in America to enter in the marijuana game. However, it is pretty natural that other luxury as well as large-scale retailers would soon develop an interest in expanding the market which deals with marijuana-related items as the local and state laws for weed loosen up.
